Verification before release
Every report should be verified by an authorised person before it reaches the patient or doctor, and the record should show who verified it and when. In Ekansh, reports are verified before release and carry a QR code that anyone can scan to confirm the report is genuine.
Corrections without losing the original
When a released report needs correcting, the corrected version should be clearly marked as amended, with the original kept. Ekansh supports report amendment after verification rather than silent editing.
Reference ranges that fit the patient
Ranges should depend on age and gender, and for hormones such as FSH and LH on the menstrual cycle phase. Ekansh resolves ranges by gender and cycle phase, flags results as high or low, and lets your lab save its own validated ranges as defaults.
Critical values and turnaround time
Your lab needs to know when a result is critical and to record that the doctor was informed. It also needs to watch turnaround time against its targets. Ekansh highlights critical values, keeps them in a queue until the phone-out is recorded with who made it and when, and shows each order's turnaround against a target for its priority (stat, urgent or routine).
Fewer transcription errors
Calculated parameters are a common source of error. Ekansh calculates MCV, MCH, MCHC, absolute counts, VLDL, LDL (Friedewald), indirect bilirubin, globulin and the A:G ratio as results are entered, and marks each calculated value so it is never mistaken for a measured one.
What software cannot do for you
Software does not make a lab accredited. Accreditation depends on your quality system, equipment calibration, internal quality control, external quality assessment and trained staff. Ekansh does not hold or grant NABL accreditation; it helps your lab keep clean, traceable records of the work.
